Multi Axis Machine Facilities Engineer / Project Leader – Southampton - £35/hr

For our Global aerospace and defence Client in Southampton, as a member of the investment team you will lead the specifying, purchase, installation of multi axis routing machines to produce composite Aircraft panels to a world class standard. There is a requirement for a significant reorganisation of Multi axis routing facilities as well as new installation.

A secondary task is to set up a mechanical testing facility. You will engage with the on-site maintenance, EHS and Production teams to ensure continuity of business, while employing sub contact companies to carry out the necessary tasks to complete the facilities.

You will be responsible for the management of projects so that they comply with all of the current building, Health Safety & Environmental regulations and with all our Clients policies and procedures.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Negotiate work scope & schedule with internal & external customers 
  • Take overall responsibility for the refurbishment and modernisation of buildings and utilities associated with a composite making / routing facility
  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged and informed of the project process and progress
  • Manage technical requirements and ensure adherence to all regulations both external and internal
  • Identify, manage and drive down project risks, review status and maintain programme, resolving or elevating issues
  • Manage communication between suppliers and internal customers’ maintenance, production and EHS departments.
  • Management of contractors and ensuring continuity of existing manufacturing deliveries
  • Manage the technical interface of all aspects of the paint facility and process between the contractors and Clients stakeholders
  • Manage the Clients Management of Change process for the project
  • Control of Project budgets and requesting capital budgets for 2013 onwards requirements

To support this role, you should have:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or appropriate demonstrable experience.
  • Strong communication skills and be self-motivated
  • Significant leadership experience in industrial machining facilities ideally in an Aerospace / Composites environment
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of composite panel machining and the infrastructure it requires
