Our client is pioneering the commercial engineering development within the Ceramics Industry.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of exceptional scientists and engineers the Project Engineer will play a central role in the installation and commissioning of this equipment.  A key responsibility will be the design of electronics for the application of DC fields in high temperature environments. This will require close integration with the broader aspects of this exciting and challenging project to develop the technology for full scale commercial application.

The main objectives for the role will be:

  • Working with the team to complete facility installation to time and budget
  • Design electrical and electronic hardware for the application of DC electric fields in high temperature environments
  • Work with the Project Scientific Leader to source equipment and electrical/electronic engineering works
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports

Duties involved with this role will include:
- To produce layout and detail drawings on electronic design systems: Solidworks (solid model), Co-create (solid model) and AutoCAD (2D).
- Design calculations to be produced supporting all designs.
- To produce Bills of Materials supporting design of all components.
- To prepare equipment build and test procedures.
- To be familiar with HandS and Risk Assessments within all aspects of engineering design/production of technical files and understanding of CE marking.

You will fully conversant with Solidworks and have a good knowledge of machining/production techniques. HNC/HND or Degree qualified with the ability to perform engineering design calculations. Knowledge of CE marking would be viewed very advantageously.

Climate Electronics commodities have to interface with a significant number of other vehicle systems including Powertrain, Infotainment, Charging and Power Supply, Seating , Switchgear, Interior Trim and Glazing in order to deliver an optimised customer experience.

The team have direct responsibility for software commodities including HVAC , Auxiliary Heating and Climate Seat ECUs as well as associated transducers and additional supporting components. In addition, Climate Electronics are responsible for defining and verifying the required systems and signals to implement the Climate Control HMI.

Experience / education required:

Run circuit audits to validate information supplied and perform circuit analysis techniques for DC characteristic (Short circuit/Voltdrop) also fusing and grounding architecture, and involved in resolving system issues, using design rule checking and SDS"s. Create physical test plans and release schematics for downstream testing and validation.

Experience / education required:
-Proven project and time management skills and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision.
-Knowledge of EFDVS and circuit SDS requirements.

- Champion the creation and update of all associated specifications to ensure timely software delivery.

They are a market leaders in the design, development, manufacture, sales and support of off-highway transmissions for Backhoe Loaders, Telescopic Material Handlers and 4-9 tonne Site Dumpers.

You will co-ordinate the design and development of new gearboxes for off highway vehicles, work with a technical lead to create project plans, including budgets and schedules, using a very clearly defined corporate work breakdown structure.

You are required to have relevant project management experience in:
- Similar scale of complexity: 8 phase, stage / gate process,
- Timescale: two to four years project duration,
- Budget: £1m£5m,
- Ideally in a related technical field, such as automotive, off-highway vehicle, driveline or powertrain system or component design,
- Ideally with experience of running projects using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methods.

Essential skills include:
- Advanced levels of organisation and planning, including use of MS project
