Experience required:

  • Selection of catalyst coatings (e.g. DOC, DPF and SCR) for all future diesel applications, including supplier selection. 
  • Leading the technical development and sign-off of catalyst coatings in close collaboration with diesel engine calibration and exhaust development teams, and supported by suppliers. 
  • Target setting, prediction and validation of after-treatment system control of noxious emissions. 
  • Maintenance of foundation failure mode avoidance documentation. 
  • Development of simulation and validation methods/test procedures required for the robust deployment of after-treatment components. 
  • Management of after-treatment coatings suppliers. 
  • Documentation of results from after-treatment projects as technical reports or evidence packs.

Skills Required:

  • Experienced in the selection, validation and sign-off of components.
  • A motivated self-starter with proven project management skills and able to make decisions which are in the best interest of the business.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge and application of failure mode avoidance tools and techniques.

Our Client is looking to appoint two Principal Engineers with good working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems to provide leadership and direction during New Product Developments (NPD) and Care of Maintenance projects.

You will be responsible for:
- The creation and communication of project plans, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines.
- The successful project completion in accordance with all relevant standards and regulations, both internal and external.
- Representing the Engineering Function for your assigned project during the NPPD process ensuring two way communication and agreement of timing based on sound judgement and knowledge of the product and the project.
- Liaise closely with RandD/workshop to monitor prototype build and test of vehicles.
- Provide technical support to the manufacturing floor as necessary to support our product and assure specifications are being followed.

Applicants must have:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Experience of complex 3D CAD modelling, ideally using Pro-Engineer Wildfire 5.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope.
- Demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions (i.e. Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.)

You will be experienced with Pro-Engineer Wildfire 4 and have a background in mechanical design to create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings of components and assemblies.

If you also have the ability to:
- Design of components and systems to support on-going product development (NPPD) and maintenance (PM).
- Work closely with other business unit departments to understand and address production line, supply and field issues
- Support the management process in the creation of Engineering Bill of Materials

- Conduct Component failure investigations in mechanical components and assemblies
- Support technical liaison with suppliers
- Proficient in Pro E or Pro Engineer Wildfire 4

As an experienced Design Engineer of automotive interior systems, you have demonstrable skills using systems NX (Unigraphics) and IDEAS. 

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Experience using IDEAS & NX 5 a distinct advantage 
  • Previous knowledge of designing Automotive Interior systems (Cockpit etc) 
  • Working with automotive Quality procedures and operating instructions, (APQP, TS16949
  • Experience working within tight project time scales 
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Second language an advantage but not essential
