An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Commercial Manager / Contracts Specialist with this Defence organisation. The role is commutable from Chertsey, High Wycombe, Slough and Watford.

The successful candidate will have experience within Contract Management or a Senior Commercial Officer role within the Aerospace, Defence or Security environment in a customer / supplier facing role. Working across business development and project delivery teams, this role is ideal for candidates seeking to work within a Prime Contract and Systems Engineering business responsible for all aspects of the commercial arrangements with customers and suppliers.

Main responsibilities:

- Lead the commercial evaluation, compliance matrix generation and commercial volume responses to customer enquiries and Invitation to Tenders, and act as the primary commercial interface to customers and suppliers.
- Provide advice and guidance on commercial risks and issues to the Senior Management Team and CEO as part of the company Bid Review process prior to release.
- Negotiating contracts with UK and international customers including the UK Ministry of Defence and other overseas governments, prime-contractors and dockyards.

- Raise and negotiate agreements e.g. Non Disclosure/Confidentiality, Teaming, Agency, Software, Memorandum of Understanding, Maintenance, Support and Commercial Exploitation.
- Protection of the company's Intellectual Property within contracts, actively promote an understanding, project awareness and manage the company's expectations in respect of protecting its Intellectual Property Rights.
- Identification of potential issues, risks with customers and suppliers and working with the appropriate bid and project teams to mitigate these.
- Liaison with internal and external customers at all levels.

Key Knowledge and Skills:

- Good understanding of UK Contract Law and UK MoD DEFCONS, contracting terms and procedures
- A track record of gaining the relevant experience of working at a similar level in a Commercial or Contracts Department for a minimum of 5 years
- Experience of working in the Defence, Security or Aerospace business areas.
- Track record of managing a small team
- Experience of drafting/negotiating contract terms
- Generation of contractual change requests against customer contracts, and the management of change requests from suppliers.

Job description
-Responsible for the maintenance of all motors and drives, and fault finding to component level using known diagnostic methods and tools
-The maintenance of PLC systems, the use of programming tools to identify faults on PLC systems and monitoring and modifying parameters as required.
-The removal and refurbishment of machinery parts using known methods and tools, such as changing motors, hydraulic pumps / cylinders, wear parts.
-Scheduling, managing and working with Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance activities on all machines.
-Carrying out a 'Single Events Analysis' and completing the required reports when there is a major breakdown on plant.
-Adhering to all safety related legislation relevant to operations and maintenance, including adhering to Safe Working Procedures, Risk Assessments, Isolation and Immobilisation procedures and permit systems, Institute of Engineering and Technology Regulations and any environmental standards.
-Candidates must be able to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, working with technical data as part of the maintenance process.
-The mechanical maintenance at the site, which involves the basic ability to fault find on hydraulics, pneumatics to component level.
