This business is owner managed and is based in a rural location, you will be joining a dynamic senior management team and be part of fast developing company with a great product range. The role of Head of Design will be to build and lead a team to develop new and exciting products that will complement the existing product range.
To be considered for this position you will have a strong practical mechanical engineering background with knowledge and experience of hydraulics, planetary drive gearboxes and design and development of rotating equipment. Backgrounds and industry experience that may be applicable for this position could include, Aerospace (hydraulics, gearboxes, landing gear, actuation systems) Automotive (gearbox, HGV vehicle, hydraulic systems) Yellow goods (hydraulics, attachments, tooling) Construction (drilling, hydraulics) Agricultural vehicles (hydraulics, tools, rotating attachments.
The role will require travel and liaison with manufacturing plants based in the Far East and Australia and your designs must encompass modern design for manufacturing principles. A key requirement of the role will be the ability to translate customer needs into real products that will comply to CE marked certification. In addition you must have the ability to assess competitor products and the knowledge and experience to create better alternatives or open up new markets through innovative design.
