A world leader in the innovation, design and manufacture of Diesel Fuel Injection equipment are now looking for a Design Engineer - Test Rig Support to work within a small team on design activities at the concept, definitive and detail stage. Designing all aspects of test rigs and fixtures.

As the Design Engineer your responsibilities will include:

Create new HD diesel injection test system hardware
To produce accurate, detailed manufacturing drawings and LOPs
To liaise with and capture requirements from product development and validation teams
To liaise with end users and subcontractors using phone/fax/ e-mail/video conference and meetings
To plan work activities effectively and support project planning
To participate in 8D assessments of failures, generate and carry out corrective actions
To contribute to Total Quality, QS 9000 and continuous improvement activities within department and business
To focus on completing activities to tight schedules

As the Design Engineer you will hold a degree in mechanical engineering (or similar) with experience in design of mechanical systems, preferably high precision highly stressed and mass produced components.
You will have good background knowledge if proprietary hardware components and suppliers (power transmission, structural and hydraulic).
Proven understanding of the principles of physics and mechanical engineering.
The ability to study a problem, identify appropriate analysis techniques and undertake the analysis or interact with analysis specialists (CFD, FEA).
Thorough understanding of detail drawing and geometric tolerancing
Experience and understanding of instrumentation products and techniques.
Effective written and verbal communications
Self motivation and initiative
Ability to work as part of a team
Experience in the use of Excel/Matlab to perform calculations, analysis and simulations
CAD experience, preferably with Solidworks, would be an advantage along with knowledge of direct injection diesel principles.
