Instrumentation Engineer
Solihull and Nuneaton

Our client is a leading 1st tier automotive company, specializing in the product design and development of a variety of vehicle components and systems.

They currently have a 3 month contract opportunity for an Instrumentation Engineer to provide instrumentation in support of the development and test of vehicle braking systems, including the measuring equipment used on test vehicles, test rigs and associated devices.

This position will be based at the client`s vehicle test facility in Nuneaton, with a proportion of time supporting test rigs on site in Solihull. The individual will be responsible for the following:

* Identify and purchase measurement sensors and then be able to integrate them into working measurement systems.
* Carrying out regular calibration of sensors and data logging equipment and to maintain the relevant records in support of ISO/TS 16949 accreditation.
* Modifying or repairing electronics circuits down to component level, which includes a number of in-house designs where there is limited documentation available.
* Specification of components, sensors, systems
* Designing of test rigs based on an outline specification from development engineers.
* Providing the necessary technical information and to be able to refine the specification.
* Specifying and sourcing the required components.


KEY SKILLS:

* Wiring, soldering, assembly of connectors
* Calibration of sensors to traceable standards
* Electronic circuit problem solving and repairs
* Understanding of mechanical systems and machining processes es.
* Hands-on ability to use simple handle tools for drilling, sawing etc.
* Ability to carry out milling or lathe work would be advantageous.
* Awareness of sound and vibration measurements, or a willingness to learn
* Ability to carry out some NVH measurements for the development engineers.
* IT skills, including the use of MS Office, with the ability to update records in an existing calibration database.
* Ability to document circuit designs and wiring diagrams using appropriate PC software packages.
* Willingness to produce written calibration procedures and create equipment operating instructions
