We seek a Engineering Team Lead for an intial 12-month contrac based in Wolverhampton.

THE COMPANY

Turner Powertrain Systems is part of the UK Caterpillar Group located in Wolverhampton (West Midlands). They are a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, sales and support of off-highway transmissions for Backhoe Loaders, Telescopic Material Handlers and 4-9 tonne Site Dumpers.

THE ROLE:


As Engineering Team Lead, you will direct and participate in the concept and design of complex engineering product or process projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality and serviceability. 

The key role of a Engineering Team Lead is that of contributor to the planning and delivery of a project. This position will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development and design of complex components, subsystems or processes mainly focused on the design, development, test, and maintenance of hydro-mechanical control systems used on small transmission applications. This position performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems and resolves problems. Although this position may be the transition from individual contributor to team leadership, the major focus of the job is on technical delivery. Incumbents may work more directly with different units, suppliers, customers and/or other teams. This requires the ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner. Decisions made may affect the project team and its delivery of the project. Decisions may significantly impact on negotiations with suppliers, leveraging new technologies, warranty, costs, sales and customer perception.

THE PERSON:

Applicants require an accredited engineering degree (BS/BEng in Engineering) or equivalent. Incumbents have usually gained 4 to 7 years of experience in powertrain analysis, powertrain performance and hydromechanical control systems and are able to perform complex assignments.
* Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
* 6 Sigma Green/Black Belt training, proven experience of technical issues resolution, Pro/Engineer modeling/drawing/checking experience and proven knowledge of engineering quality systems and design process would be of advantage to fill this position
