    The Role
    The Functional Integration Team is responsible for the development and release of application software for a number of high profile and challenging global applications. Supporting this development, striving for customer delight with timely deliveries, novel system functions and high quality software. You will support the generation of software design document to appropriate software quality and safety standards, review software implementation and perform system level testing and issue resolution. As the post covers the interaction between software and hardware a broad understanding of a range of engineering disciplines, such as electronic hardware and control and software development for embedded systems, will be an advantage.
    What you ll do

    Assist with all aspects of the function development, testing and release for a specific application throughout the product lifecycle both internally and with customers and suppliers. (Overseas travel will be required from time to time)
    Translation of customer specifications into software requirements documents for implementation by the software team
    Working with the Control Team to develop, simulate, prototype and evaluate new algorithms
    Working with the software implementers to ensure that all software deliverables meet requirements and standards
    Provide support for system integration and testing, requiring development work on bench rigs and in vehicle
    To contribute in the relevant areas of ECU and software safety analysis (e.g. dFMEA, FTA)
    What we are looking for

    Essential:
    Able to work effectively within a team and with a strong positive attitude
    2.1 or better degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
    Understanding of software/systems design and experience of tools/methods
    Knowledge of real-time embedded software (C language)

    Desirable:
    Self motivated and able to work without direct supervision
    An understanding of analogue and digital electronic hardware
    Matlab and/or Simulink experience, preferably with automatic target code generation
    Knowledge of safety-critical applications and/or automotive component development and industrialization
    Familiarity with SPICE or equivalent
    Understanding of CAN-bus communications and diagnostics over CAN
    Six-Sigma Green Belt certified

    Experience

    The role will have responsibility for the specification, development, validation and implementation of high voltage systems in HEV and EV automotive applications.

    Key duties will include;

  • Design, test and produce hardware for the control and distribution of energy for a range of products, DC/DC converters, 3 phase motors, generators, distribution units, battery systems.
  • Power / control electronics design including modelling/simulation, component sixing, thermal analysis, control electronics circuit design, power electronics strategy, high voltage isolation
  • Work with motor design, controls, systems and thermal engineers to develop robust electric drive solutions
  • Drive product development from initial concept through to final product launch
  • Generate engineering documentation such as BOM, schematics, reports, FMEA
  • Oversee qualification tests
  • Develop operating procedures
    Candidates will need to be Degree qualified in Electronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience Hybrid drive systems. Must have extensive knowledge of high voltage systems including power electronics, power conversion, power supply.

    They are looking to appoint a recently graduated Product Engineer who will have product design responsibility through simulation and drawing creation to provide support to customers and engineers. The role will also involve creation analysis reports and feedback to customers on engine projects

    The role will include:

  • Carry out simulations of bearings for new and prototype engine projects using in-house software and provide support and feedback on bearing design
  • Provide design support and product selection for quotation to sales and applications staff
  • Undertake field analysis on returned parts and provide results for a variety of management staff and departments
  • Provide instructions to metallurgical staff for in-depth investigations on component damage and failure mechanisms
  • Interpret metallurgical results
  • Create CAD drawings based on product standards which will be distributed globally using network links
  • Interface with sale and applications staff to obtain product details for new applications/quotes

    You will have:
  • at least a first degree (preferably higher) in automotive or mechanical engineering
  • Strong knowledge (practical or theoretical) of internal combustion engines is essential (demonstrated by appropriate final year project)
  • CAD experience of Catia V5 and Pro-E preferable
  • Good interpersonal skills and capable of communicating with people at all levels
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy especially when working under pressure
