A Powertrain Support - Component Engineer is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Dagenham, Essex.

Position Description:
Working in the Global 'centre of excellence' for diesel engine design, we want you to use your engineering skills creatively to design and deliver Gasoline Turbocharger systems for our new range of EcoBoost Engines. You need to be a strong team player to liaise with programme teams, suppliers, manufacturing and purchasing. You need to be able to manage component validation including failure mode avoidance through use of quality tools, and arrange component rig and engine dynamometer testing from your Design Verification Plans. You will also be responsible for reviewing best practices and agreeing Corporate Design Guides and System Design Specifications.

Design, analyse, verify, optimise and/or sign off components, attributes, deliverables and/or processes, which support program QFCW (Quality, Function, Cost, Weight) targets. Ensure that assigned components, attributes, deliverables and/or processes comply with legal, safety, programme and World-wide Component Requirements (WCR) requirements. Be familiar with and operate according to the Quality System defined in the European Powertrain Operation Quality Manual including all procedures, reference sources, mechanised systems, local procedures, local working practices and best practice engineering and quality tools. Ensure adequate specifications, quality records are defined, maintained and verification conducted to prevent product non-conformity. Support target cascade, definition process for new programs. Initiate and supervise detailed layout and design work on their components leading to detailed drawing information, engineering specifications and releases. CONT...

..Lead cross-functional component Program Module Team (PMT). Ensure engineering changes are implemented into production by following up with supplier or internal organisations i.e. Production Plant, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing and Material Planning & Logistics. Support cost optimisation process (Total Value Management TVM) on a component level. Write, develop, and update component system P-Diagrams, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA’s), Design Verification Plans (DVPs), System Design Specifications (SDS’s). Full Driving Licence required.
Experience Required:
Experience working in an engineering activity.
Education Required:
Candidates should have a BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Applicants MUST have proof of immediate and valid eligibility to work full time in the UK.
