Senior Build & Test Technician
Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

This company leads the world in integrated engine and powertrain solutions from clean sheet design concept through castings, manufacture and vehicle installation to calibration, onboard diagnostics and telemetry.

They are now looking to appoint Senior Build and Test Technicians to provide Build and Test support to meet customer requirements

Duties:

  • Support project requirements and operations within the Build and Test Department
  • To build prototype engines record critical data
  • To prepare components for assembly, to include inspection and measurement
  • Carry out engine disassembly and compile report
  • To support production of Engine Build manuals and tooling
  • Pre rigging and fitment of engines to the testbed
  • Carry out tests to instruction
  • Adjust engine parameters and monitor effects on engine operation
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and effect repairs
  • Edit test screen layouts
  • Able to generate new tests
  • Collate data and present reports as required
  • Assist with the day to day running of department
  • Attend project meetings when required
  • Assist in training other staff
  • Support process development
  • Support risk and COSHH assessments
  • Work to departmental Health and Safety procedures

    Qualifications
  • Automotive City and Guilds, ONC/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering

    Skills and Experience
  • Extensive proven experience within prototype Engine Build and Test environment
  • A working knowledge of engine operation and engine management system is required
  • Technical knowledge and working experience of engine test equipment.
  • A good understanding of engine hardware, EMS, control systems and fault finding
  • An understanding of engine emissions both in control and measurement
  • An understanding of fault diagnosis and repair for Horiba emissions equipment.
  • High standard of fitting skills and able to produce fabricated components
  • Able to adjust engine parameters using the Engine Management System with minimal assistance
  • Understand test data and able to identify if data is outside of set parameters
