Export Sales Engineer

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Sales Director you will be responsible for planning and actioning direct sales and marketing activities.

Mature, credible, and equally comfortable in dealing with senior company executives and/or branch staff. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well presented and business-like. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel regularly within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.

Key responsibilities:

1. Maintain and develop sales to major UK accounts in accordance with agreed business plans.
2. Develop sales to existing Export distributors and identify and develop sales to new Export distributors in accordance with agreed business plans.
3. Agree and administer price changes with UK and Export customers.
4. Attend national trade events when required.
5. Liaise with key customers and make arrangements to attend their local trade events.
6. Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits.
7. Attend meetings with other business functions in order to aid business, organisational and product development.
8. Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information.

Personal Attributes:

• Able to understand basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations. Must be a competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.
• Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email.
  • 2 years clean driving licence is essential (the role involves extensive travel throughout the UK).
  • Some experience in an engineering environment or related qualification would be beneficial.
