Senior Functional Safety Engineer – Automotive – Solihull – Permanent £35-45K
World class, tier 1 automotive supplier, at the forefront of automotive technology, is seeking a permanent Senior Functional Safety Engineer / dependability engineer to join its growing team. The role is pitched at senior level and as such you will already be working within functional safety or have exposure to it through a systems role.
The role requires a well-rounded engineer with a background in electronics, electrical, controls, software and mechanical engineering systems. Main responsibility is to lead the functional safety and its documentation of an electronic steering system. The role will require extensive interaction with a multi-disciplined team of software, hardware, controls and mechanical engineers.
What you’ll do
As senior functional safety engineer you will be expected to lead the documentation and sign-off of a safety critical electrical steering system. This will involve the following on software, hardware, controls and mechanical aspects to ensure ISO 26262 is achieved at all stages
- Proactive approach to Hazard analysis, hazard testing, FMEA, FTA.
- Technical leadership for safety standards and analyses including checking the work of others
- Act on the results of any analysis or validation tests to ensure the safety of the product is not compromised
- Develop a reliability analysis, advise on statistical techniques and reliability estimates
What we’re looking for
- Degree in electrical, electronic or software engineering
- Familiarity of ISO 26262 or IEC 61508
- Previous functional safety experience on a complex automotive, rail or aerospace real-time system
- Eligible to work in UK without restriction
