ASIC Design Manager – Cheltenham - £40k
Do you believe you are able to lead our Global Aerospace Clients’ ASIC development team in the delivery of all aspects of ASIC engineering projects to cost and on schedule inclusive of all quality and compliance requirements? If so, read on:
- the role will be to develop and execute the technology strategy for the ASIC team and to identify core and non-core capabilities
- to support new business development through engagement with potential new customers to discuss technical and programmatic aspects of new work
- to create and promote a culture of delivery, timeliness, technical excellence, quality, customer satisfaction and inclusive leadership
- to ensure that all metrics, targets and KPI's associated with the above are met, delivered or exceeded to drive improved performance on all contracts and to assume ownership for the delivery of all assigned work packages to cost and schedule and to the highest levels of performance
- to assume ownership of problem resolution
- to drive continuous improvement by championing lean six sigma and design for six sigma.
You will assume direct management of a team of skilled engineers covering ASIC design and test, and ensure that these personnel are provided with strong local leadership and clearly defined and measurable objectives
You will also assume ownership of the talent pipeline for the hardware business and to create a framework that delivers talent at all levels by working with other engineering managers to build a consistent long term flow of high quality engineers and leaders ensuring all projects are adequately resourced. Furthermore, the role will require the management of outsourcing to 3rd parties and global Group resources.
Furthermore you will have:
- A degree or equivalent level of knowledge or experience in electronic engineering or a related subject
- A strong technical background in ASIC and FPGA design and verification
- Understanding and working knowledge of ASIC development flows and CAD tools including design, layout and test
- Knowledge of parameters affecting ASIC silicon performance including radiation effects, temperature effects and associated failure mechanisms. Understanding of silicon manufacture and packaging techniques in additon to associated influences over manufacturing yield
- A proven track record in a senior design engineering management capacity ideally from companies in the aerospace sector but may have been gained in the defence or automotive sectors or similar
- Provided technical oversight to multiple concurrent projects
- Willing to occasionally travel internationally
Desired Characteristics:
- Demonstrate sound understanding of DO-254 and its application, experience in the leadership of certification activities
- Understanding of safety and reliability concepts
- Knowledge of export control requirements and constraints
