Mechanical Design Manager - Motorsport - Oxfordshire - £Neg + Bens

Head of Mechanical Design is required to take responsibility for managing the design output for an innovative electric flywheel energy storage system being taken to market by this iconic motorsport company.
The successful candidate will actively engage in design work, where time permits, together with leading a growing mechanical engineering design team, ensuring the design function complies with the company’s QA system and taking ownership of the engineering release system.

The Head of Mechanical Engineering should possess experience of the following:

Design for a volume production OEM
Knowledge of relevant production processes, materials and assembly techniques
Knowledge of relevant quality systems and tools such as DFA, DFM and design for low cost production
Knowledge of NX and Pro E an advantage
Failure mode effect analysis
Working knowledge of automotive quality standards and requirements, ISO 9001, TS 16949 and ISO 14001

You will be degree qualified, ideally chartered, in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.
Previous design experience of powertrain components for automotive or rail applications or high speed rotating machinery or electric motors and drives or hybrid systems would be a distinct advantage.
