Quality Inspector / Coordinate Measuring / CMM Operator - Motorsport - £170-220/day d.o.e (£20-26/hr) - Northampton

A Quality Inspector / CMM Operator programmer is required on an initial 12 month basis to work at this precision manufacturer in Northampton.

You will be working in the production CNC machining area where non-ferrous alloys are turned and ground by state of the art machines to extremely high tolerances. As an Inspector your duties will include:

- Check mechanical components to ensure parts conform to specification and drawing.
- Perform detailed inspections and measurements of first-off and production samples and complete documentation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of geometrical tolerances.
- Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) programming on Zeiss Calypso and PC-DMIS as well as standards room equipment.
- Complete concession information and create reports/overview, communicate effectively with manufacturing, planners and quality engineers and the wider business as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Essential

- Previous inspection experience within a low volume high value precision engineering manufacturing environment ie Aerospace, motorsport or defence (not automotive).
- Operating experience of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- Capable of using standard inspection equipment and able to read engineering drawings.
- Craft Apprenticeship and/or Mechanical NVQ.

Desirable in addition to the above

- Have a firm understanding of work piece position (Primary, secondary and tertiary datums).
- Programming/Operating knowledge of Zeiss Calypso CMM and PC-Dmis
- Understanding of engine components.
- Advanced measurement process such as Calypso curve and PC-Dmis gear Inspection or similar.
- Able to program parts to CAD model.
- Basic understanding of CAD software
