A new permanent opportunity has arisen for a Jig and Tool Design Engineer in the County Durham area.

In pursuit of new product introduction, cost effective production and Quality improvements, a vacancy has arisen for this role. Working within a team of dedicated engineers, the successful candidate will be required to execute mechanical component designs within the team, supporting the full model range. Components will include light and heavy steel fabrications.

Based in Peterlee and reporting to the Tooling Design Supervisor, the individual be responsible for the following:

- Direct and participate in the design, development and production of new product components and system concepts, ensuring designs meet functional requirements and comply to all engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Producing designs from concept stage to production of drawings complying to all engineering and regulatory requirements.
- Develop project plans, functional, design and technical specifications
- Take the leadership role in problem resolution process
- Lead and project manage procurement of outsourced fixtures
- Conduct technical evaluations and assessments of sub-contractor products


Role Requirements:

The following skills and experience are required for this posting:

- Engineering Degree
- 5-10 years experience tooling design and manufacture in a relevant field
- A strong engineering mechanics and mechanics of materials background
- Possess analytical skills with the ability to develop product concepts
- Possess a working knowledge/understanding of FMEA, DFMA, manufacturing techniques and project management
- Strong problem solving techniques
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Must be self motivated, flexible and able to work in a team environment
- Proficient use of Pro-Engineer (Wildfire II or Wildfire IV)
- Project Management of Turnkey equipment procurement
- Experience in Fabrication, Assembly Tack and Weld Fixture Design would be advantageous
