The company is a leading international development partner to the automobile and engine industry. Currently experiencing a major period of growth in orders and continuing business, they are looking for a Production Engineering TECHNICIAN.

The role will assist the engineering department in all aspects of new product introduction and day to day problem solving to include process optimisation, tooling trial and development and CNC part program editing and modification.

The ideal candidate will be eager and enthusiastic to learn and grow with the business. The role would be ideally suited to an apprentice served candidate who has gained several years post-qualification experience and is looking for their next career move.

The role will include:

  • Set up tools and equipment trials, set up machines, running off of first parts for both machining and assembly engines
  • Produce and understand CNC part programmes etc
  • Evaluate CNC data to prove out new programmes, tooling and processes to the specification and requirements of Production Engineering
  • Implement process changes using the systems within the business
  • Assist the team in the development of tooling, fixtures, editing and modification of CNC part programs
  • Carry out problem solving involving analysis of data and time studies and feedback to the Production Engineering team
  • Assist in the training of production staff
  • Support the production department in achieving volume, cost, quality targets and other associated KPI s
  • Perform any other duties deemed appropriate by the Operations Manager
  • Qualifications

  • Craft Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent City and Guilds qualification is essential
  • ONC/D in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, is desirable

    Experience
  • Previous experience of the machining and manufacture of complex precision automotive components
  • Experience of CNC programming is essential
  • An understanding and appreciation of work holding and fixtures is essential
  • An understanding of Automotive capability requirements is desirable
  • Familiarity with some, or all of the following would be an advantage: FMEA's, PPAP, SPC although full company training can be provided

    Skills
  • IT literate
  • Communication skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • A good understanding of geometric tolerance
  • Proven tooling experience
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD
