Technical Quality Manager
Location - Midlands
Salary - £40K to £50K plus car, 15% bonus and benefits
Mission
Reporting to the Director Technical Business Unit, the Technical Manager is responsible for the day to day control of the UK technical activities to include lean deployment, quality assessment and training & development to ensure client containment issues and quality concerns are managed effectively and efficiently.
Activities
- Support the Director Technical Business Unit in the development and management of the Group Technical Management Systems.
- Lead UK Technical activities to advise customers on the optimum Technical solutions to address their particular Quality and/or Lean issues with corrective action being implemented or remedial action being recommended.
- As recognised Quality Expert be able to lead Engineers or clients teams in required Technical programmes
- Day to day management of the Engineering team at clients using personnel expertise to ensure the teams are providing the optimum services for maximum customer satisfaction
- Utilise personal knowledge of Quality Management principals to design, develop and professionally present Technical training courses to specifically meet the individual customer requirements..
- Through a sound knowledge of Quality Management undertake required selection, recruitment and development of the UK Engineering team for client roles covering the whole spectrum of Quality Management fields.
- Support the Operations team with specific hands on quality and lean training, development and mentoring.
- Manage programmes to assess client's needs providing onsite training and development for consultants and client staff to ensure containment and warranty concerns are addressed and rectified to meet current and future customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain the required reportage to support the above activities.
Person Profile
- Degree level engineering education with a recognised Quality Management Qualification [e.g. MCIQA]
- A minimum of eight (8) years of automotive OEM or tier-1 experience in the quality assurance field
- Registered ISO9001 and ideally ISO14001 & TS16949 Lead Auditor with proven track record of hands on management of Company Quality Management Systems
- A recognised track record on APQP tools, Audit and Run@Rate with experience of leading suppliers or customer teams to achieve successful product launches.
- Recognised track record of problem solving in fast moving manufacturing environment with the proven ability to lead and train teams on the required techniques.
- Good analytical ability based on sound statistical techniques - ideally Six Sigma Black Belt qualified.
- Experience of recruiting and managing technical personal
- Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills able to communicate to all internal and customer levels from Board room to shop floor
- Significant travelling in the UK and Europe requiring time to be spend time away from home occasionally at short notice as required to support the business needs.
