Lead Body in White engineer - Automotive - Coventry

A lead engineer is required for the body in white platform, you will be responsible for the development of BIW Underbody of a new vehicle platform including concept layout. You will be degree qualified or similar with experience in generating internal project timing and resource plans to meet customer milestones and gateways. You will also be responsible for material selection, packaging and exterior surface development, DFMEAs and DVPs. 

Delivery will be achieved using a multi-functional team that will consist of staff, contractors and supplier representatives You will need to have an understanding of the roles and needs of different client groups, with supporting evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results. Strong project management skills are therefore essential and you should be able to do this autonomously with minimal need for support from a Chief Engineer. 

You will have experience of;

• BIW (body in white) engineering with a good record of leading teams of Engineers and / or acknowledged industry experts
• Vehicle cooling, engine cooling, engine development, vehicle test or development or sub-system (fan / radiator) development
• Project management
• Material selection, packaging and exterior surface development, DFMEAs, DVPs
• Development of body in white underbody including concept layout

You should ideally be degree qualified – or HND, HNC or equivalent – with strong numeracy and literacy skills. Experience with Vehicle cooling, engine cooling, engine development, vehicle test or development or sub-system (fan / radiator) development would be ideal as would previous experience in development of body in white underbody. Although pitched at Principal Engineer level, applications from more junior Engineers with relevant experience seeking a career development opportunity are also welcome.
