Our global Aerospace and Defence Client currently has a vacancy for a NPI Engineer role to provide electronic engineering and design support to Production, Purchasing and Commercial departments. The focus of the role will be the production engineering aspects of new products to ensure smooth transition from design to production. Located in Cheltenham.

Key responsibilities

- Ensure that document/drawing changes are introduced into production in a manner that achieves "right first time" cost effective manufacture.
- Develop and produce Manufacturing Instructions (Layouts) and Route Cards to ensure good product quality and repeatability in production
- Set up MRP system for manufacture of new products
- Attend Design reviews, in order to influence product manufacture and identify alternative manufacturing techniques and processes, where applicable
- Identify and specify the requirement for production tooling and assembly aids for existing products.
-produce cost effective design solutions for electronic products modifications in event of customer changes, component obsolescence or product improvement.

Personal Attributes:

- NPI experience with an electronics background.
- Electro-Mechanical engineering background ideally with broader experience of manufacturing software / systems disciplines
- Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness
- Experience of any of the following systems/software would be a distinct advantage: IFS - MRP system, EDSC - Teamcenter v.4.0, MK Systems - AutoMeg and Csoft - Wiselmage

The salary range for this NPI engineering role is circa up to £35,000 depending on experience. Educated to degree level would be advantageous.
