Quality Engineer
Shropshire, England

Our client is the main stamping site for this multi-site manufacturer of automotive body panels for many of the world`s leading vehicle producers. In line with the Company`s policy of continuous quality improvement, the Quality Engineer will introduce and improve processes, and procedures to ensure high quality products reach the customer. This is a critical appointment which will rely heavily not only on the skills gained through experience in a quality role but the interpersonal skills of the individual.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
* Support new product engineering throughout the APQP process
*Support manufacturing, co-ordinate internal products/process improvement, problem solving and internal PPM improvements
* Interface with the customer to co-ordinate concerns and problem resolution
*Out of hours contact for designated customer base
*Support purchasing when required to improve supplier performance
*Maintain and improve core quality documentation, quality and environmental system and procedures
*Carry out internal audits of the quality and environmental management system and follow up with corrective action
*Formulate and conduct quality training and awareness events
Characteristics and Requirements
* Qualified to HNC level, an equivalent NVQ or associate membership to the IQA
*Experience in the development, implementation and auditing of quality systems/procedures
*Previous experience in high volume manufacture, preferably automotive body in white
*Knowledge of ISO9002, TS16949:2002, ISO14001, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, control plans
*Knowledge of metallurgy an advantage
*Current driving licence
*Experience of skin panel and aluminium pressings and assembles required
