The position is for an engineer in the Vehicle Preparation Department at the Dunton Technical Centre. Reporting to the Supervisor this position is required to support the preparation of vehicles with instrumentation to all parts of the engine and vehicle as required by the customer.

Skills Required:
communication skills at all levels are essential. The position requires continual liaison with the teams in the work shop, the foreman and customers A good level of computer literacy is required to manage instrumentation and other databases. Knowledge of specific software not required as training will be given. The individual must be able to work to and assist in the development of process. Process discipline is an essential skill. Experience of using and maintaining schedules is important. Strong organisation skills and administration skills are important. Understanding of base motor vehicle operation and component parts is a must. Practical aptitude is important.

Experience Required:

P&E Senior Engine Development Engineer – Gasoline

Job Requirements
Plan and lead the development of Engine Performance & Economy (P&E) targets to meet overall vehicle targets. Track progress and status of powertrain hardware to deliver P&E targets. Issue technical reports & program status documentation for all hardware evaluation and key program decisions. Support of dyno based calibration activity in support of program. Lead dyno and engine hardware interface on program into support and customer areas. Management of daily dyno plan for both hardware & calibration development. Support technical reviews at key gateways, where requested as per relevant program or PT Timing Plan. Release of calibrations for other rig users & plants. Troubleshooting support for other rig users and engine DV/PV as needed. Liaison with hardware suppliers/plant/calibration teams as needed.

Skills Required:
Knowledge of gasoline combustion system, ability to evaluate and analyse key attributes and calibrate engine accordingly.

Position Description:
Provide a technical leadership and implementation role for OBD direct injection and port fuel injection technologies in gasoline applications. Ability to generate and present program status to powertrain project management teams, powertrain control systems teams, base engine design and feature technical specialists. Provide the powertrain OBD systems integration including system attribute trade off and management.

Job Requirements
Skills Required:
Proven track record of delivering an OBD gasoline direct injection development program. Proven track record of management of development projects in an engineering environment. Understanding and practical knowledge of quality tools (e.g. Six Sigma and DOE). Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink and other CAE tools. Detailed knowledge of gasoline OBD control systems ideally Bosch MED17, but other EMS would be considered. Detailed knowledge of gasoline engine combustion systems. Knowledge of project management tools and techniques. Ability to motivate, influence, and manage people effectively. Works well under pressure and capable of working with minimal supervision. Well developed interpersonal, organisational, facilitation, and communication skills. Ability to interact with a varying set of customers both internal and external. Ability to support climate development trips within Europe, North America, China and South East Asia.
