The Role:

The Advanced Core development team is a specialised group defining and developing next generation concepts and ECU (Electrical Control Units) designs for a range of products covering this OEM's portfolio of electrical power steering and powertrain products. This team consists of key design specialists covering many key design skills (e.g. Microprocessors (16 and 32 bit), Power Supplies, Power Filtering and Switching, Motor Control, ASIC design and development, analogue design, EMC - Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) and systems knowledge (e.g. Automotive, Safety, Sensors, EPS (Electric Power Steering), EPHS (Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering) and Powertrain). This role will be directly involved in design and development activities for EPS, EPHS and Powertrain. The key skills being sort for this role, are primarily expertise in Power Electronic design (Motor Drives, Power Filtering, Power Supplies etc.) with a level of Management experience, but a good understanding of general electronic design, processes and tools is, also, required.

Core Tasks:

As part of this team, you will apply and develop your expertise in:

- Electronic Circuit Design: Creation of new electronic circuit designs, covering a wide range of digital and analogue technologies, for high volume, safety critical automotive control systems. Good understanding of electronic components and manufacturing assembly techniques and processes
- Electronic Circuit Analysis: Tolerancing and worse case using various simulation (eg. Saber, Spice) and analysis tools (eg. Excel, Mathcad)
- Safety and Reliability Analysis: Performing FMEA, FTA, reliability analysis in support of ISO 26262/IEC61508 work packages and analysis
- Generation of Requirements and Test Documents: Generating documentation in support of company procedures and engineering design and development activities
- Verification and Test: Generate test plans and conduct test/verification programmes to ensure designs are fit for purpose and conform to design requirements
- Manage other team members and contact functions/Manage programmes and component development activities

We are looking for

Essential:

- Educated to degree level (in a relevant subject)
- Experienced in electronic design (inc. skills in Power Electronics) in a high volume and/or high reliability market
- Experience in key safety analysis processes (e.g. FMEA)
- Willingness to push existing boundaries and learn/develop new skills

Desirable:

- Self motivated and able to work with or without direct supervision
- Excellent communication skills, particularly reporting
- Member of relevant professional body (e.g. IET)
- Willing and able to travel overseas

Daily Life usage programme support for Accommodation and Usability Attribute. For specific new vehicle programmes, take responsibility for development of the Daily Life usage element of the Accommodation and Usability attribute: i.e. develop and set targets, develop solutions with Design and Engineering, ensure adherence to relevant standards, lead problem resolution and validate delivery throughout the vehicle design and development process. Report status using formal documentation (e.g. eFDVS, Panel Charts etc) and act as the attribute single point of contact for the programme team. Specific areas of responsibility include: Luggage and Cargo Carrying and flexibility, Stowage, Maintenance routines, Trailer tow usability, Smoking, Electrical power provision, External Electrical hook-ups and Turning circle.

Skills Required:
Sound understanding of ergonomics principles in the automotive arena. Ability to benchmark competitor vehicles robustly and interpret data reliably. Clear and concise communicator. Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard. Ability to develop strategies, analyse future trends, and forecasting. Proven ability to manage workload and deliver to short timescales and deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised within the local team and interfacing across business functions.

Skills Preferred:
Ergonomics experience and/or formal ergonomics qualification Interpretation of customer quality data (e.g. JD Power).

Experience Required:
Proven experience in vehicle engineering in product design and/or packaging.

Education Required:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline.

Additional Information:
May require work at both Gaydon and Whitley sites.

Support the day-to-day operation and development of the test automation systems in the engine test areas. This includes automation systems, combustion analysis, INCA etc.

Skills Required:
Experience of an engine test automation system, preferably one of the following automation systems - Adapt, Xone, Puma, but not essential. Working knowledge of additional systems including Cameo, INCA, CAS, Indimaster etc or similar tools would be useful. To support and resolve daily issues, develop new feature, roll out new feature, support quality and process improvement actions etc (software and hardware).

Skills Preferred:
Programming knowledge in e.g. Microsoft office VBA, etc. Matlab/Simulink knowledge advantageous.

Experience Required:
Prior experience in an engine test facility or similar test environment.

Education Required:
Educated to degree level, in a relevant field or subject, is preferred but not essential.

Additional Information:
Will be based at primarily at Gaydon, but may be required to work with engineers at Whitley as well.

Our client is a Global Fortune 500 manufacturing company, and due to a need to grow the team, we are seeking candidates from experienced Application Engineers, or Product Engineer, Development Engineer who are looking for a more client focused technical role

You will be responsible for Application development within a given client base (Europe) liaising across a range of internal and external stake holders.
Having previous experience in a client facing role would be an advantage, however if you feel you have the presence, character and drive to succeed then this will also be of great use.

If you have experience within Rotating Equipment, Mechanical Engineering, Gas Turbines within a Product Engineering, Design, Application Engineer or Project Engineering environment and have the right attitude you could be a great success in these roles.

Project Management, Problem Solving and commercial awareness are all key skills to have

Ability and willingness to travel, (c.40% of time) mainly to Mainland Europe and occasionally the US.

Ideally educated to Degree level within Mechanical Engineering, or relevant alternative
