The Role:


This exciting role is for a high calibre software engineer to show their talent and join a development team responsible for delivering innovative Driver Assist Systems to a variety of prestigious vehicle manufacturers. Already supplying market leading 77GHz radars, the team is currently developing next generation 24GHz radars for both truck and car markets.
The radar enables a number of advanced safety features improving both driver safety and comfort.
Our client is one of the world's leading producers of safety systems supplying a wide range of global vehicle manufacturers. The embedded software for these products is designed at our technical centre, in the South West UK.

This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong design and problem-solving skills to support projects with short design cycle times and high production volumes. The successful applicant will become a major contributor to a highly motivated software development team developing software solutions to meet demanding safety and quality standards.

Core tasks:

The position is for a software engineer developing embedded software for our clients' range of radar sensors.

You will:

? Capture and analyse the relevant software requirements
? Undertake software design tasks with the minimum of supervision
? Ensure software designs are fully suited to the target microprocessor platform
? Ensure verification of software designs against the software requirements

We are looking for

Essential:

- Educated to degree standard in relevant discipline
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Real-time, embedded C skills with hands-on debugging experience
- Good practical understanding of embedded software development methods and tools
- Experience in developing robust, real-time software for low cost, high volume manufacture
- Experience of verification techniques for real-time embedded software
- Flexibility to adapt in a fast paced working environment

Desirable:

- Experience in developing software for the automotive industry
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostic protocols
- Experience of CAN communication protocol and related test tools
- Experience of supervising junior engineers
