Electronics Engineer (scope for Engineer and/or Principal Engineer) Chassis Systems

The Role

Responsible to the ECU Applications Team Leader, you will be part of a group developing ECU designs for a range of products covering our portfolio of electrical power steering (EPS) products. You will undertake ECU application design and development activities for market leading EPS solutions in a dynamic, multi-project, multi-disciplined environment.

Core tasks

As part of this team, you will apply and develop your expertise in:

- Developing customer specific design solutions within an overall, generic platform concept, covering a wide range of digital and analogue technologies, for high volume, safety critical automotive control systems.

- Worst case analysis using various simulation (eg. Saber, Spice) and analysis tools (eg. Excel, Mathcad)
- Generating documentation in accordance with company procedures for design and development activities
- Interfacing with global customers in respect of specification capture and compliance analysis
- Ensuring all designs are validated in accordance with product requirements, including EMC
- Support FMEA/DRBFM/FTA type reliability analyses in support of ISO 26262/IEC61508 compliance
- Supporting the introduction of EPS ECU's into mass production at electronic production plants worldwide

We looking for

Essential:

- Educated to degree level (in a relevant subject)
- Experienced in electronic design, analysis and validation in a high volume and/or high reliability market
- Electronic Circuit Analysis: Tolerancing and worse case using various simulation (eg. Saber, Spice) and analysis tools (eg. Excel, Mathcad)
- Excellent communication skills, particularly reporting
- A good understanding of electronics components and experience in the processes, assembly techniques and testing involved in the volume manufacture of automotive electronics
- Willingness to travel overseas to support customers, suppliers and manufacturing sites when required
- Self motivated and able to work with or without direct supervision
- Willingness to push existing boundaries and learn/develop new skills

Desirable:

- Automotive system and design experience (e.g. requirements, processes and tools)
- Experienced in electronic design (inc. skills in Power Electronics) in a high volume and/or high reliability market
- Experience in key safety analysis processes (e.g. FMEA)
- Member of relevant professional body (e.g. IET)
- Ability in a foreign language, such as Mandarin, French, Italian or German would be a distinct advantage
