Our client is a principal supplier to the aerospace and defence sector for both Air and Land Systems.


A role has arisen within the Customer Services business unit for a Project Manager to manage resource and activities for a portfolio of allocated projects. This will involve defining, planning and managing projects in accordance with best-practice principles through all stages of the engineering development life cycle. Additionally the role will be involved in the management of long term support contracts or in-service support requests.

The main duties are:
- Management of all allocated projects to time and agreed budget.
- To work with the Head of Engineering in the definition and co-ordination of the resources required and assigned to the projects.
- Provision of management information reporting on progress both internally and externally.
- Development of close, long term productive and conducive customer relationships.
- Development and maintenance of viable plans to achieve milestones, at all times, as required.
- Maintain a clear, comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities for all allocated projects and a clear understanding of necessary actions to follow up as appropriate.
- Leading bid preparation activities as required.

Ideally you will be:
- Excellent team player with well developed leadership skills
- Team leader / project management experience with a small technical team.
- Broad engineering experience with ideally some commercial or other managerial exposure.
- Degree or HND in an appropriate Engineering/Technical discipline.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Project or equivalent project management tools.
- Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
- Well organised, robust, self-motivated team player.
- Experience of managing more than one project at a time is essential.
- Recent experience within a military/defence/aerospace industry is an essential attribute unless a sufficient substitute can be demonstrated (3years+ minimum).
- Have experience of managing technical projects from initial bid and design stages through to production of the product.
