This is an opportunity that will appeal to candidates who are interested in developing a career within Vehicle Integration working on thermal systems development. A very exciting opportunity that will give candidates exposure to a wide range of projects, including;

•             Development of powertrain (including e-drive) cooling / thermal management on low carbon vehicles

•             Advanced engineering projects on battery thermal management systems

•             Development of concept demonstrators for senior management reviews

•             Supporting  the parent company’s product development overseas, undertaking test & development activities in Europe and worldwide

Essential Responsibilities:

• Fully responsible for timely and accurate preparation of mass properties reports for all programs

• Supervise a small staff of weight engineers

• Check all mass properties estimates developed by weight engineering staff/sub contractors.

• Data management of changes to the mass properties estimate. This includes several items such as:

  • Historical logging of all changes incorporated into the working database or specific weight reports (such as drawing revisions, revision notices, etc…), and the accurate and timely reporting of mass properties impacts from proposed design changes.
  • Logging of all pending changes to the working database (such as drawing revisions, revision notices, updated Vendor Furnished Information, etc…)

• Active monitoring of the design of the aircraft for weight control practices

• Active monitoring of the production of the aircraft for weight control practices. (weighings)

• Preparation and presentation of alternative design and build materials, arrangement, and/or practices to control weight growth

• Supervision of weight engineers/sub tiers to assist in meeting all of these responsibilities

• Attend meetings with Client.

• Supervise or assist in weighing of large assemblies when required

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering

• Knowledge of CATIA V5 mass analysis programme.

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office EXCEL/ Word.

Experience / skills as a Project Engineer including Supplier Management, Budget Control and Programme Delivery. Self motivated and capable of working to meet deadlines with minimum supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role will require the ability to quickly build relationships and credibility within both Powertrain and the supplier chain. Experience of writing detailed functional specifications ideally in a facility or mechanical services environment. A very exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Functional Safety Principal Engineer to join the Electronics and Electrical team.

The main activities and tasks for this job are:
- To lead the implementation of ISO 26262 safety case for advanced engineering projects in TMETC and migrate process to the parent company in India.
- Support process improvements both in the UK and India.
- Support requirements management and system specification / definition both in the UK and in India.
- Derive processes for managing supplier delivery of complex hardware and software systems, including participation in supplier design reviews.
- Develop and refine engineering processes in the UK and India.
- Regular travel to India, up one week per month will be required.
- Be an effective team member contributing to improvements and high customer service.

Candidate requirements:
- Understanding and appreciation of vehicle safety case definition based around ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or equivalent.
- Understanding and appreciation of automotive system design processes, including requirement management, system partitioning and requirement apportioning utilising a tool such as DOORS.
- Degree or similar qualification
- A minimum of 5 years' experience ideally in the automotive industry. Candidates from the Aerospace, Defence, Avionics industries are also encouraged to apply.
- Be conversant with automotive hardware and software design processes.
- Understanding and appreciation of vehicle networking particularly CAN.
- Extensive experience of development and validation of automotive ECUs. Hybrid or EV experience is desirable.
- Chartered Engineer, working toward or prepared to work toward

The main activities and tasks for this job are:
- To act as an NVH advisor and consultant on several concurrent automotive engineering projects
- Develop Refinement improvement strategies for both vehicle and powertrain
- Support and conduct data acquisition, analysis and drive appraisal activities
- Provide NVH support to the design engineering teams in both the UK and India
- Plan and manage NVH projects
- Develop processes and procedures
- Provide NVH status to Project Reviews
- There will be a requirement to travel overseas extensively with frequency up to one week per month

Candidate requirements:
- Degree or similar qualification
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in automotive NVH test and development, ideally having worked on powertrain and small car projects
- Experience of a range of test methodologies including some of the following, powertrain noise, road noise, wind noise, TPA, modal analysis, sound quality, driveline refinement
- Experience of using LMS Test / Head Acoustics test and analysis systems
- Experience in the use of NVH test instrumentation and application in development activities
- Demonstrate good project management skills
- Possess good logical reasoning
- Chartered Engineer, working toward or prepared to work toward
- Ability to inspire the team to strive for improvements and high customer service
- Capable of managing a group of engineers and support the Lead Engineer in the delivery of the performance objectives of their group

A great opportunity exists for a talented Electrochemist to join this Centre of Excellence for the development of Electric, Hybrid and conventionally powered passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Based on a very attractive university campus, the centre employs over 250 Engineers and enjoys the support and continuous investment of its parent company enabling it to grow and further develop its expertise across all areas of vehicle engineering. Following recent successes on low carbon vehicle technology programmes and to support its development of energy storage devices a brand new state of the art laboratory has been built housing test, development and low volume manufacturing facilities. To support its activities the new role of Principal Battery Technologist has been created.
Located in Coventry the centre is commutable from Oxford, Birmingham, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Leamington Spa.

The main activities and tasks for this job are:
- To support energy storage characterisation, testing and evaluation activities and assist with the development of battery technologies' long term strategy for the Centre. This will include but is not limited to:
o Assist with defining testing protocols to support programme work
o Perform tests agreed in collaborative testing programmes between the Centre and other partner organisations
o Analyse test results comparing performance of battery cells or other storage devices
o Write reports detailing conclusions and recommendations
o Utilise test data to form theories for underlining mechanisms of battery degradation
- Work with relevant team members to utilise data for modelling and prediction activities and to support validation of in-house module design
- Support the development of the technology road map for energy storage devices
- Assist with the identification of promising new technologies for energy storage
- Occasional travel to Europe and India

Candidate ideal core requirements are:
- A first Degree in Chemistry, Physics or Physical Sciences, ideally also a MSc or PhD
- Strong numeracy and literacy
- A minimum of 3 years industry experience as an Electrochemist working on Lithium-ion battery development and manufacture
- Practical experience of testing and test equipment
- Proven experience of data analysis, development of theories and application of test data in new programmes
- Good logical reasoning
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Chartered or working toward it
