Senior Software Engineer

The Role

This vacancy exists due to growth in TRW Conekt s portfolio of niche and specialist vehicle safety systems applications on some of the world s most exciting sports cars, alternatively fuelled and electric low carbon vehicles. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will apply software engineering, project and supplier management, customer liaison and technical support skills to applications engineering projects and business development activities. You will technically lead and contribute to safety critical automotive software projects for low volume series production of driver assistance, steering, braking and other safety systems.
What you ll do

Be a senior member of the Software Group reporting to the Group Leader
Technically lead certain projects or work packages, providing technical leadership and guidance to the project team
Directly contribute to project software activities by producing system and software specifications, software designs, coding in embedded C and C++ and a range of software testing techniques
Contribute to project proposals and quote preparation
Contribute to the development of engineering processes and procedures
Liaise with external agencies, partners and institutions to support development of key software technologies, working closely with the Group Leader
What we are looking for

Essential:
First degree or higher in a related discipline
Post-graduate experience of software engineering life cycle for safety critical product applications
Willing and able to occasionally visit customer facilities in UK, EU and USA
Good communication and inter-personal skills for customer and supplier liaison

Desirable:
Experience of use of structured system design, UML and/or Model based development using Matlab/Simulink
Experience of delivering software to specification within time and cost constraints
Able to use initiative, be self motivated and be a good team player
