Client is recognised as a world leader in the design and manufacture of industrial diesel engines throughout the world.

A new ongoing contract opportunity has arisen for a Wiring Harness Component Lead.

Based in Peterborough, the individual will work as part of the Large Engine System team, responsible for engine control system development for various facilities in Europe, as well as being responsible for wiring harness design and development on a number of programmes.


Key Responsibilities will include:

- Working with the customer to identify wiring harness requirements and timelines.
- Owning and managing wiring harness design and development activities, to meet timelines agreed with the team lead and / or customer.
- Wiring schematic design and development using Pro-Electric Lines.
- Management of harness design using Pro-Electric Lines (usually through a third party).
- Checking / updating 2D harness drawings.
- Conducting fitting trials for each iteration of harness design.
- Coordination with the supplier on harness design, design for manufacture, prototype procurement, execution of APQP, review / approve supplier deviations etc.
- Conducting design FMEAs and using these to plan validation activity.
- Management of validation activity including harness strip down and report.


Qualifications/Skills and Experience required:

- Strong technical background (good technical Degree preferred in Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering) though other qualifications / experience will be considered.
- Wiring harness design experience using a CAD based tool such as ProCable and ProHarness.
- Good understanding of engine wiring harness technology.

Desirable Attributes:

- Experience of running and participating in FMEA
- Design experience gained in the off-highway sector.
