The successful applicant for this position will be join the Compact Engine Systems team and will take responsibility for development activities on starter motors and alternators for various brand engine ranges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Planning and executing the development of rotating electric components for the application on Caterpillar machines and engines.
2. Working directly with the customer to understand and document component requirements.
3. Working with suppliers to identify and source components to meet the programme requirements.
4. Conducting FMEA on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
5. Working with the validation team to plan and execute validation tests.
6. Conducting component and system design reviews to obtain buy-in from the business to selected components, designs and suppliers.
7. Keeping peers, team leader and management up to date with progress against planned activities.
Through this role, the successful candidate will have an excellent opportunity to take part in, and have significant responsibility for, the end-to-end development process for modern rotating electric components. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
1. Strong technical background - ideally a good technical degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems or automotive engineering - though consideration will be given to other qualifications or significant relevant experience in lieu of this.
2. Prior experience in engine component development (preferably gained on starters and / or alternators)
3. Good understanding of component development and validation
4. Good leadership skills
5. Strong team player
6. Excellent communications skills
7. Strong customer focus

Desirable:
1. Experience of running and participating in FMEA
2. Experience of designing and executing verification and validation test plans for rotating electric components.
3. Experience of writing technical document / requirements / test plans
4. Knowledge of project planning activities
5. A good knowledge MS Office programmes and Pro-Engineer would be an advantage.
