The Role

Within a small team you will be involved in the design and support processes for a mature steering assist electronic unit. This electronics is the control electronics for an Electrically Powered Hydraulic Steering (EPHS) product which has 80% of the market share in passenger vehicles . The product is continually evolving and is currently in the process of entering the Light Commercial Vehicle market requiring design enhancements.
What you ll do
As part of this team, you will involved in :
Electronic Circuit Design: Circuit characterisation and tolerance, both in an electrical and thermal domain.
Design Investigation: Failure analysis from manufacturing and development programmes .Design debugging from prototype parts. Testing at extremes of temperature and variances in environmental conditions.
Generation of Requirements and Test Documents: Generating documentation in support of procedures and engineering design and development activities.
Verification and Test: Conducting test/verification programmes within the environmental and electrical domains (EMC) to ensure designs are fit for purpose and conform to design requirements. Generation of test plans and test evaluation documents.
Design Support: Cross functional electrical support for development builds for mechanical development and/ or software development.
Serial Communications: Using Vector Software ( CAN ) tools to communicate with automotive equipments for test simulation and programming.
What we are looking for
Essential:
Educated to Degree level or suitable training within the electrical/electronics industry.
Experienced in electronic design in a high volume and/or high reliability market.
Ability to work efficiently within the Microsoft Office suit of programmes.
Willingness to push existing boundaries and learn/develop new skills.

Desirable:
Self motivated and able to work with or without direct supervision
Communication skills to formalise arguments and to support analysis results.
Knowledge of 8D or 5Y s analysis tools.
Willing to travel. ( valid driving license)
Experience within a manufacturing environment.
