Quality Manager

This is an established SME operating independently as part of a much larger business, they supply precision products into the automotive industry to recognised OEM brands in road and motorsport. The business is now looking to strengthen its management team by recruiting an experienced Quality Manager.
The successful candidate will join a small executive team and develop and drive the quality function forward in line with strategic business objectives
The individual will:
take overall responsibility for the company`s QA function,
continually develop, implement and update the quality improvement plan,
be fully conversant with the requirements of TS16949 with automotive Tier 1 experience,
The main responsibilities and duties of the role will be:
the management of a busy Quality and Metrology Department.
working closely with sales, engineering and supply chain functions to develop and undertake APQP procedures appropriate to customer requirements
conduct appropriate audits to TS and ISO9001
liaise with customers as required to provide support for product quality issues in the field
have demonstrable experience in leading the application of quality management systems in a high variety low volume assembly and test environment
combine determination and resolve with diplomacy and tact in order to influence peers and non-reports to achieve desired outcomes
use tactical and strategic abilities to resolve daily operational issues as well as develop a departmental strategy in support of the overall business plan
demonstrate presentations skills sufficient to lead supplier forums and reviews
Experience and qualifications:
educated to degree level in either Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality disciplines
management experience ideally in an automotive tier 1 environment with responsibility for the Quality function
previous experience within a precision engineering environment, or low volume/high value batch assembly would be beneficial
