A recent promotion has resulted in an opportunity for an ambitious Transmission Design Principal Engineer to take the next step up in his / her career. This job will also appeal to a current Chief Engineer seeking a new challenge. The main activities of the job will be:

• Lead and manage the design team
• Manage and review general transmission layout design and DMU testing
• Design and analysis of components
• Conduct evaluation on existing designs
• Provide technical support and advice on Transmission design projects
• Supplier management and assessment
• Lead DFMEA
• Apply new Transmission and component technologies, techniques and advanced materials
• Provide in-house training and mentoring to less experienced engineers
• Responsible for team building and career development
• Recruitment and appraising of staff
• Problem resolution of 4WD, AT Hydraulic systems and AT control strategy development and calibration related issues
  Candidate core requirements:
• Degree or similar qualification and a minimum of 10 years Transmission design experience
• Team leadership experience, good communicator and excellent interpersonal skills
• Detailed knowledge of Transmission design, development, validation and test processes.
• Ability to motivate, influence and lead teams of engineers
• Experience of Transmission specific design / analysis software packages
