12-18 months contract   

Our client is a dynamic first tier supplier to the global aviation industry. The purpose of this Senior Buyer role is to coordinate and control all activities relating to the procurement and ongoing management of indirect materials and equipment. 

You will be responsible for the RFQ Process, supplier selection and negotiation, contract negotiation, ongoing contract management and change management - to work with Engineering and Commercial to understand the requirements and coordinate the flow down of requirements to suppliers. You will also be responsible for delivery performance, ensuring delivery performance of all indirect suppliers and on the major capital requirements still outstanding work with the programme team to negotiate, expedite, project manage, etc the final capital deliveries in line with the programme requirements. You will also be responsible for the operating performance monitoring supplier performance against contractual commitments and will implement appropriate measures. You will also regularly communicate performance to the appropriate suppliers and when necessary escalate poor performance and support the activity to submit supplier claims.
CIPS is desirable and you will need a higher education qualification. You will need strong negotiating skills in both pricing and contracting, the ability to build strong relationships and work at all levels both internally and externally, be technically, financially and commercially astute with excellent communication skills and knowledge and experience of how to manage risk in a programme environment. You will also need strong ability to influence others whilst maintaining honesty and integrity at all times, be organised and delivery focused with good project management skills. Additionally, you will need advanced analytical and numeracy skills supported by strong Microsoft Office expertise. The company is looking for someone who is a self-starter who shows initiative as well as maintaining excellent collaboration with wider teams. You must be hands on with a must do attitude, a decision maker with a flexible approach and who can manage diversity across technologies, people and international cultures.
