Job Purpose:
- To plan, monitor, control and report prototype builds (across Tubs, BIW, Paint and Trim and Final), ensuring efficient and effective completion of prototype builds in-line with program timing.
- To supervise, lead and motivate a team of prototype technicians balancing the various program demands.
- Co-ordinate with vehicle engineering manager to identify the key attributes and functions that each prototype needs to demonstrate and then liaise with the PMT and PMST leaders to deliver the most representative vehicle possible.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Plan and schedule prototype builds and updates to optimize utilization of vehicles and technicians
- Schedule vehicle sign-offs and handovers in line with DV plan
- Manage and minimise the cost of vehicle updates and reworks through liaison with vehicle offices and support engineers to ensure "fit for purpose" vehicles and maximised re-use of components.
- Ensure all vehicle updates are appropriately documented by creating and maintaining a comprehensive vehicle log book.
- Manage and supervise the allocation of appropriate skilled technicians to carryout builds and upgrades as necessary, ensuring the maintenance of applicable documentation and that vehicles have had relevant safety checks prior to handover for test work.
- Supervise the overall build, throughout the Trim and Final area of Prototype builds, such that changes can be introduced in time saving and efficient manner. Liaise with necessary departments and plan ahead such that part availability /delays are minimized and cause as little disruption as possible. Take, after necessary discussion with relevant departments, such steps as necessary to procure/obtain ancillary parts to enable continuity of build. Enable where possible forward rather than retrospective implementation of change during initial build.
- Maintain discipline within the team, ensuring adherence to company procedures and H and S and ISO directives as followed by the Company, ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Plan and coordinate training to achieve team versatility requirements
- Work with vehicle engineering, to establish attribute and functional targets for each prototype, then liaise with PMT's to assess status with latest parts and identify any potential shortfall to target. Develop plan to realign prototypes through the build to achieve targets and report ongoing status.
- Maintain discipline within the team ensuring adherence to company procedures and H and S and ISO directives as followed by the Company, ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Responsible for compiling and presenting the X0, X1 and M1 Ok to build status to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Educated to degree level in an Engineering discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of vehicle build and function, vehicle and component engineering principles, test and development processes.
- Extensive hands-on and/or engineering/design experience with vehicles.
