Health and Safety Manager

A new permanent opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Manager to work at a market leading automotive manufacturer.
The individual is required to manage and provide technical leadership in the function of safety management and ergonomics within UK and Ireland.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Develop safety and ergonomic strategies and improvement initiatives for the UK and Ireland.
* Lead a team of safety specialist in delivering strategies and initiatives.
* Proactively anticipate changes in legal requirements and adapt the business in readiness.
* React to changes in Legal and Group requirements to ensure compliance.
* Influence business change to reduce business risk and ensure compliance.
* Influence, where possible, UK HandS policy and legislation taking account of business strategy or needs.
* Ensure that the Safety Management Systems are embedded within the organisations.
* Represent the company as the competent person in respect of safety issues.
* Attend and influence relevant associations and NGOs.
* Represent the UK and Ireland in Group Safety groups.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Higher level technical education in relevant subject matter (min HandS Diploma or equivalent)
* Extensive proven experience in major/key discipline of the role
* Comprehensive understanding of related legal requirements
* Excellent people management, project management and communication skills.
* Membership to a recognised professional body within discipline (e.g. CMIOSH)
* Desire for and evidence of continuous improvement.
