Position Description:
This position is a CAE Analyst role within the Powertrain in Vehicle Analysis team. Powertrain in Vehicle Analysis provides CAE support to new powertrain and vehicle programmes from concept through to engineering sign-off. MATLAB/Simulink-based models are used to deliver functional analyses assisting the delivery of vehicle performance, emissions and fuel economy attributes, specifically concept assessment, target setting and analytical verification of target achievement, calibration optimisation and problem resolution.

Skills Required:
Strong analytical capability, including a methodical and highly disciplined approach to data management. Able to communicate complex technical concepts, data and conclusions to a wide audience. Able to identify and respond to the strengths and limitations of computer-based modelling and simulation. High level of motivation and drive, equally able to work alone or as part of a larger muliti-disciplined team.

Skills Preferred:
Recognise and quantify impact of powertrain system characteristics and principal vehicle attributes upon vehicle performance, emissions and fuel economy. Proven experimental capability (ideally powertrain and/or vehicle test), able to apply advanced statistical techniques to experiment design and test data analysis.

Experience Required:
Proven success in application of industry-standard system modelling toolset (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink ) Computer-based analysis of dynamic system behaviour for problem solving and/or system optimisation. Model correlation to physical test data, Simulation output data interpretation and presentation of results, conclusions and recommendations.

Experience Preferred:
Powertrain system analysis and optimisation for vehicle tailpipe emissions and fuel economy, Practical knowledge of engine, transmission and driveline architecture and operating characteristics, Powertrain physical test (engine test bed or vehicle chassis dyno.) Powertrain calibration (engine or transmission.

Education Required:
Educated to degree level in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

Education Preferred:
Educated to higher degree level in Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
