The role is to predict and challenge theoretical engineering concepts, through linear tolerance chains. Based in Oxford, you will be reponsible for complex analysis of geometric analysis problems within body interior and exterior trim environment with significant focus on gaps and profiles between panels. Liaising with cross-functional team of engineering, supplier quality and production.
Responsibility:
*Involvement with central projects
* Fully understand part and car alignments (3,2,1), together with RPS (Reference Point System)
* Organise data, in terms of theoretical analysis and actual data (Q-DAS which is a large storage database)
* Work cross functionally to control complete vehicle tolerance management including suppliers
* Have a strategic viewpoint of tolerance management
* Measurement planning for BIW and Trim and Final parts - particularly TandF where we need to maintain plant control via the suppliers
* FMK concept confirmation project phase
* Analyse theoretical tolerance chains with actual data
* Monitor project phases for gaps and profile achievement to group target
* 3DCS analysis (software tool that predicts tolerances extremes, and visualises the CAD models
An enthusiastic person with an Engineering background preferably educated to degree level. - A practical, hands-on person who enjoys working with cars. - Proficient in geometric integration processes including understanding of CMM reports, cubing processes and dimensional tolerance analysis. - Preferable (though not essential) to have good understanding of manufacturing processes in BIW and plastic injection moulding. - Good analytical skills applied to hardware and data. Proficient in the use of quality tools e.g. 5 Whys, Ishikawa, SPC.
