Job Purpose
To lead the specification, design, prototyping and development of power systems for automotive vehicles, based on the AC family of fuel cell systems.
To assist in developing the technical and commercial relationship with OEM’s.
To feed the needs of the automotive vehicle applications into core systems development and operational manufacturing processes.

Responsible for (staff/equipment)
Operation of the prototype vehicles and systems in the UK and Japan.
Bench-top test equipment based in the UK.
Technical supervision of assigned Engineering and Ops resources.

Qualifications
Good engineering or physics degree.
Postgraduate qualification would be desirable but not essential

Experience
Minimum 5 years in technical leadership of product development programmes in the arenas of fuel cells, automotive, powertrain / power systems

Skills
- A deep understanding of the Automotive industry with previous 1st hand experience in an engineering function gained within a Tier 1 Automotive industry supplier OR an Automotive OEM
- Proficient at Microsoft Office tools or equivalent
- Understands pipeline & instrumentation schematics for fluid / mechanical systems
- Versed in the principles of Systems Engineering- Requirements Management, concept and architecture definition, optimisation through trade-studies, verification planning and execution
- Understanding of electro / mechanical device design, e.g. power generation / battery design
- Knowledge of quality management systems / document control
- Finding and building relationships with potential suppliers of components or services
- Application of fluid/thermo, mechanical, controls & electrical knowledge to the investigation of problems and the definition of cost-effective solutions
- Presentation of design work, test results & conclusions using renderings / sketches / photos
- Knowledge of quality management systems / document control
- Understanding of basic reliability and statistical analysis methods, and an ability to apply them to design of experiments.
