A Black belt or Master Black belt continuous Improvement Engineer is required to join TRW Automotive power Steering Systems on a permanent basis.  

As a Black Belt and member of the Continuous Improvement Department you will work closely with the Product Engineering teams to apply structured problem solving methods to technical issues encountered from initial concept designs through to product launch.  That is you will suggest problem solving tools, techniques and help engineer apply these where problems occur during design, test or development.   You will also work with the global quality team to identify systemic issues and work on developing improvements to the product development processes ie (business process).

This role is at operational level, ie helping to solve problems and so it is vitally important that you are not seeking a role that is mainly strategically based.  Whilst  you will be expected to identify and apply techniques it is important that you are not an academic quoting theory or text unnecessarily – you should be able to apply common sense as well as techniques and simplify where possible

What you’ll do

• Lead resolution of top engineering issues using structured problem solving tools (6-Sigma, Shainin, 8D, etc)

• Coach and guide engineering team in their use of structured problem solving tools

• Work with engineering teams to apply appropriate robust engineering tools (DFSS, P-Diagram, etc)

• Support identification and delivery of efficiency savings to meet business financial targets

• Work with Global Quality Team to identify and resolve systemic issues

• Contribute to the development of problem solving, robust engineering and CI capabilities

What we are looking for

Essential:

• Degree qualified in technical or business related subject

• Six Sigma Black Belt certified or Master Black belt within an Engineering / development area

• Able to influence and lead teams, communicate and work at multiple levels in the organisation

• Able to leverage action when no direct reporting authority exists

• Strong analytical / statistical skills

• Proficient in PC skills

• Willing and able to travel overseas (Poland)

Desirable:

• Proven relevant practical experience

• Shainin qualified

• Good understanding of engineering tools such as DFMEA, DFSS,

As Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will ensure that through the submission of accurate and competitive tenders that satisfy our client's drivers the company secures adequate new business in the Water Industry Capital Maintenance Sector. We require someone that is flexible in terms of travel and this position could be based out of any of our regional office but preferably in the Southern or Scotland regions.

You will have responsibility for:
- Ability to lead bids from receipt to submission with a particular focus on the Capital Maintenance Sector of the Water Industry
- Preparation of estimates for Mechanical Engineering works, that are technically correct and with an acceptable risk level, from P and I's / GA drawings and specifications
- Participate in the design development to access build ability, materials, innovation and cost effectiveness of proposals.
- Provide high level pricing information early in the Tender for optioneering and budgeting exercises to ensure the most cost-effective solution offered.
- Prepare a staff resource for each project by providing information packages to various departments or from the contract programme.
- Participate in the preparation of a procurement plan with the buying department to agree suppliers and sub-contractors, terms and conditions and discount levels
- Prepare enquiries and obtain competitive quotations for mechanical engineering resources, particularly materials and sub-contractors. Obtain completed construction / design questionnaires and technical schedules where appropriate.
- Maintain an up to date awareness and knowledge of Technical developments and new methods within the Industry.
- Provide Mechanical Engineering expertise and technical advice to other members of staff.
- Ensure that Client's requirements and project drivers are incorporated within tenders.
- Cost code and input onto the system awarded tenders.
- Support the completion of operation and maintenance assessments.
- Access staff and site expenses for each project

Our client is currently looking to appoint an EICA Design Engineer based in Heywood (north Manchester) for a 6-12 month contract. As EICA Design Engineer you will prepare, develop and check electrical designs to suit contract requirements, ensure that EICA designs are deployed effectively, economically and in accordance with all appropriate regulations and specifications to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on contracts. The projects will range from 11kV distribution to mA instrument signals. You will provide design guidance and support to regional delivery teams and represent the EICA design department at all levels within the business including client meetings.

- Ensuring that standard designs and design practices are utilised wherever possible.

A Manufacturing Engineer with a solid background within the automotive industry is required for a world leading manufacturing facility based in Desford, Leicestershire. This site is dedicated to the assembly of small construction machines, typically used on building and construction sites. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be expected to act as a lead for other members of the team and be a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the assembly planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering.

You will be responsible for:
- Developing, analysing and managing Manufacturing/ Assembly Projects.
- Assisting with developing department capital and expense budgets, together with maintaining the department capital forecast.
- Administration of the assembly New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure that Engineering drawings are released and processed on time for NPI build, working alongside the Product Design Engineers to ensure Design For Assembly.
- Application of the APQP for Manufacturing process to ensure that assembly processes can produce to the required customer quality expectations.
- Design, development and implementation of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation and systems application.

Applicants must have:
- Proven experience of leading teams to successfully deliver complex projects, using appropriate project planning techniques is required.
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts, lean manufacturing principles, and manufacturing APQP processes including PFMEA's.
