As part of the Global Purchasing Indirect team (a group of c.200 purchasing professionals worldwide), an opportunity currently exists for a Buyer who will join a UK based team on a 12 month fixed term contract. This person will provide Business Unit support with a site focus for the companies within the UK. Joining a team of 5, this position is based in Peterborough and will support the Revenue and Capital spend relating to the companies sites. Travel to the other UK sites supported, may be required.

You will provide leadership for sourcing for locally managed spend categories, understand and interface with BU partners, have ownership of common goals, drive local compliance to negotiated source strategies, provide purchasing support for emergencies, track supplier performance and provide feedback to segments, manage local supplier relationships and development (Supply Base Tail Management), execute supplier collaboration ideas, participate and support internal business partner strategies and planning, identify gaps and develop local catalogues to address uniqueness and local execution of contracts.
Experience is preferred in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing and/or engineering. The position requires an undergraduate degree from a college or university or equivalent experience and evidence of buying related experience. You must be a strong negotiator, able to interpret, analyze and negotiate contractual cost elements and have analytical, problem solving and project leadership skills. Additionally, you must be an effective communicator, in written and oral form, fluent in English and able to effectively communicate with people across the business where English is the second language. Well developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others and reaching consensus on specific actions.
