Climatics & Instrumentation Test Engineer

This position offers an opportunity for involvement in the validation, testing and support of a range of electronic systems and products within Tier 1 automotive and aerospace businesses. It will involve working closely with internal and external customers, working to the highest standards and working in a responsive, customer-oriented environment offering plenty of variety.

What you`ll do:
- Setting up and monitoring tests in a variety of test chambers which simulate various operating environments
- Making sure that test specifications are followed correctly
- Devising and carrying out non-standard tests to meet special requirements
- Recording product condition or behaviour during and after test
- Monitoring test equipment and reporting anomalies or faults
- Producing clear and professional reports as required
- Providing information and updates to customers in person, by phone, by fax or e-mail
- Support the Electrical/Electronic Instrumentation activities such as preparation of wiring harnesses
- Assist in building test support rigs such as Ground planes for EMC and test rigs for Environmental test

What we are looking for:
Essential:
- Educated to HND or engineering degree standard. A good understanding of Physics is important
- Minimum 12 months practical test experience in a controlled test environment
- Familiarity with test, monitoring and control instruments and ability to build electrical/electronic test rigs
- Knowledge of test standards and quality systems
- Conscientious in attention to detail, accuracy and record keeping

Desirable:
- Computer literate - working knowledge of standard PC applications
- Ability to communicate clearly and to deal confidently with customers
- Willingness to work additional hours when required
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to varying work requirements
- Knowledge of Vibration and Environmental testing
