Design Engineer (Principal)

Our client is a leading aerospace supplier of electronic fuel control systems. A new opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer (Principal) to provide conceptual design support and maintain/develop the design integrity of products within a multi-disciplined Engineering team.
This role is based in the West Midlands, close to the M5/M54 and is commutable from Birmingham, Walsall, Telford, Cannock, Dudley and Bridgenorth.
The Design Engineer will report to the Chief Design Engineer and will have the following principal accountabilities:
* Generation of design concepts and configurations of a wide range of actuation systems.
* Provide design support at all stages of the design process from initial requirements capture to qualification.
* Ensure adherence to the design process whilst meeting timescale requirements.
* Develop optimised product designs in terms of cost, weight and robustness.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve design issues.
* Make presentations internally and to customers at design review meetings.
* Ensure that the designs meet the customer specification and regulatory authority requirements.
* Be involved in problem solving activities qualification, manufacture and the in-service phases of a project.
You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have a strong engineering background with respect to hydraulic and/or electro-mechanical actuation equipment, preferably in aerospace, but experience from other industries will be considered.
