Materials Engineer

A first tier supplier to the global aviation industry and a leader in the manufacture of highly complex composite and metallic aerostructures and engine products. The company is equally focused on military and civil markets. They are currently recruiting a Materials Engineer due to continued growth.
To provide support to the Quality, Production and Engineering functions in matters relating to materials and processing of materials.
To conduct necessary quality control tests and provide test results
Provide laboratory support for material and part qualification testing
Provide specialist advice and knowledge on materials selection, processing parameters and test requirements
To develop/optimise procedures used within the department
Skills Experienceand Qualifications:
A qualified Materials and/or Process Engineer with HND/HND level qualification or equivalent
Membership of a relevant Professional Body
Expertise gained within an aerospace environment ideally with aerosturctures experience - composite and metallic
Proven track record in interpreting customer quality and design requirements
Thorough understanding of regulatory authority requirements
Expertise in Lean Principles
Strong minded and committed, focussed on delivery.
Has the ability to work successfully at a senior level within a matrix managed business, able to influence without legitimate authority
Ability to work as a part of a team or in isolation
Resourceful and adaptable.
Prepared to work on the complete range of GKN Aerospace programmes, both civil and military
Able to travel as required by the position including internationally
Exceptional interpersonal skills and stakeholder management capability
