Principal Performance Development Engineer

Description:
In this challenging role you are responsible for developing combustion, performance, and emissions capabilities of diesel engines to meet or exceed the requirements of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
-Working directly with a small team of performance engineers located at the Technical Centre and also part of a larger global team
-Conduct test cell and vehicle experiments to determine hardware, software and calibration specifications that best meet the technical performance requirements of the project.
-Troubleshoot engine, test cell and vehicle performance problems with technicians, facility experts, and service engineers.
-Analyse, report, and act on test information.
-Lead and participate in performance and calibration design reviews.
-Provide support to New Product and Current Product Support development teams on performance related issues including plant quality.
-Conduct Emissions transparency tests as required for all current product changes. This includes reviewing all product changes for potential impact and recommending appropriate testing.
-Utilise analysis tools to predict engine performance.
-Test cell Data Quality Assessment - review with LabOps Engineers.
-Provide quality performance related information into engine data sheets and to other customers.
-Provide leadership and mentoring to new and more inexperienced Engineers in the group to help set and meet their work plan objectives.
-Support compilation of technical profile and Quality Target Control Table responses to Engineering / Marketing / Application groups.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required (Master's preferred)

Experience
-Must have a thorough understanding of engine performance principles with broad relevant working experience.
-Exposure to electronic controls would be a benefit.
