Principal Software Engineer

In this role as Principal Software Engineer, you are responsible for managing software and hardware enhancements and optimisation. You will also be providing support to the Test cell Data Acquisition facilities.

Responsibilities

Manage Asset and Cyflex software upgrades and enhancements.

Engage the power of Asset into our everyday working.

Support I/O hardware and drive strategy

Asset system troubleshooting and managing issue closure.

Liaise with Asset support group in US to fast track to solutions.

Strong focus on hardware Input/Output (Gantner and Snap) and data acquisition interface

Supporting and troubleshooting Communications between data acquisition and Instrumentation

Support equipment operating systems that run off Asset

Ultimately provide instruction to others on use of Asset and Cyflex as a power user.

Drive short and long term improvements in equipment utilisation and data quality by using Asset tools.

Provide day to day test cell data Acquisition system support.

Background experience

Broad experience working with any data acquisition system -Some year experience working with engine data acquisition system

Shell programming in Unix/Linux

Good knowledge of engine test cell safeties

Good exposure to CAN bus communications

Networking fundamentals

Data acquisition system problem solving skills Advantage

Experience with engines and engine control systems and PLC's

Strong PC, data gathering and analysis skills.

Lab Ops work experience in diesel engine test cell environment

Visual Basic programming

Java application development in Windows/Linux environment

6-Sigma
