Application Engineer - Automotive - Basildon, Essex - £salary Excellent + benefits

A degree qualified Application Engineer is required for the first automotive supplier to offer its customers a range of electric superchargers. Unlike exhaust-driven turbochargers, electric superchargers are driven by an electric motor. This Basildon based company are looking for an enthusiastic Engineer with recent relevant industrial experience in high speed electric machine design and operation and experience of powertrain development and control.

Responsibilities include:
First level support to the customer regarding all questions regarding component and systems integration
Capture and document customer requirements, plan and execute application specific activities.
On-site customer engineering support
Delivery of customer programme deliverables
Testing and measurement of system parameters
Application of adjustable system parameters to achieve optimal system performance
Presentation of system performance to customer and management
Mind-set of continuous improvement

Skills include:
Fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engine
Project planning and coordination (preferably using MS Project)
Mechanical and electrical fabrication and installation
Excellent general computer skills (automotive specific e.g. CAN desirable)
Experience in use of CCP compliant calibration tools (e.g. ATI Vision)
Working knowledge of Requirements Management tools (e.g. DOORS)
Problem diagnosis and resolution
Powertrain and vehicle system simulation desirable
