Factory Implementation
•Proofread/document review of studies developed by the suppliers (functional analysis, plans and diagrams, data sheets, calculations)

Details
Installation/hook-up/commissioning
•Supervise unloading, installation and hook-up of the equipment
•Monitor static compliance of equipment before testing (with assistance by third party for all controls re electrical work)
•Monitor compliance with "quality" and "security" standards of supplier's technicians during work on site

SAT/IQ/OQ
•Proofread IQ / OQ protocols. Collate comments sent to suppliers
•Manage SAT tests and IQ / OQ (protocols processed by equipment suppliers working with GSK BOU team)
•Manage the supply of materials and packaging items for testing
•Assist in critical testing with suppliers
•Write a SAT report
•Review technical documentation from supplier(s)
•Finalise equipment handover report & obtain approval (project to production)

Control software development: Real time control of vehicle steering controls
Software Architecture development: Design and development software architecture and components in an Autosar environment

Our client is a major supplier of advanced electronic controls, wiring and body electrical systems to the automotive industry, whose Electronics Engineering division designs and develops Electronic Control Units for many different applications including Electric Steering and Powertrain. We are looking for someone to take on a key position in our Electronic Engineering Quality and Product Support Group. You will be responsible for a range of safety critical, mass produced (in excess of 1 million units per year) applications from the post production launch phase onwards. The highly varied work will involve both the investigation of complex failures from field returns, together with the management of changes to the products. You will have the opportunity to travel globally to both production and supplier facilities.

What you ll do
Diagnose analogue and digital failures, including microprocessor failures
Write detailed diagnostic reports
Present findings to vehicle manufacturers
Liaise with Suppliers
Support Manufacturing issues: test yield, quality, change, etc
Project management and planning of validation and change programs
Provide technical support to the companies systems site

Essential:
Logical and robust approach to problem solving
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to read and understand electronics at schematic level
Good working knowledge of standard electronic components
Good communication skills (both verbal and IS based)
Willing to travel (both UK and abroad)

Desirable:
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
Software skills and experience
Working knowledge of communication protocols in automotive
Micro-controller diagnostics / fault finding
Motor control and monitoring experience
Experience of a production environment

Responsible to the Column Drive ECU Applications Team Leader, you will undertake EPS application design and development activities in a dynamic, multi-project environment focusing on the customer interface, manufacturing support and validation of market leading EPS solutions.
As part of this team, you will develop your expertise in:
* Interfacing with global customers in respect of specification capture and compliance analysis
* Developing customer specific design solutions within an overall, generic platform concept
* Ensuring all designs are validated in accordance with product requirements, including EMC
* Supporting building of development samples and undertaking of sample testing, including design and procurement of development test equipment
* Generating product, component and test specifications and supporting documentation
* Supporting the introduction of EPS ECUs into mass production in electronics plants worldwide
Essential:
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
* Experience in control electronics design, EMC requirements and design, validation techniques and requirements
* A good understanding of electronics components and experience in the processes, assembly techniques and testing involved in the volume manufacture of automotive electronics
* Willingness to travel overseas to support customers globally when required

Desirable:
* Knowledge and some experience of typical electronic engineering tools (schematic capture, simulation, mathematical analysis)
* Ability in a foreign language, such as Mandarin, French, Italian or German
* Member of a relevant profession society/institution (e.g. IET)
