The tooling will integrate features such as moving parts, splits and heating elements, in addition the tooling may also have a requirement to integrate with automated processes such as automatic deposition or robotic assembly.

You will need to:

• Have previous experience of tool design, development and construction from within aerospace show an in depth knowledge of the use of  CATIA V5 for both 3-D modelling using various work benches such as assembly design, part design, generative shape design (surfacing) and the 2D package of Draft and its application when applied to tool design
• have a working knowledge of geometrical tolerance and effects of thermal expansion is essential
• have experience of supporting tools through their manufacture (on or off site) through to the final commissioning phase

- Maintain compliance with ISO and company standards e.g. ISO9001: 2008, roadmap, etc.
- Ensuring strict compliance with company Environmental, Health and Safety management system requirements
- Investigate process failings and eliminate opportunity for repeat occurrence, share findings with factory and Quality network.

A permanent role for a Senior Design Engineer who has proven experience of 3D design with AutoCAD on sheet metal projects throughout the lifecycle of the product. The role is a pressing need for the firm to succession plan for the future and to react to their increasing workload going into next year.

The firm is a small local and well established name, they are market leaders in the bespoke design of large specialist vehicles. The type of person that would suit this role is a grounded engineer who isn't afraid to muck in when need be, helping out on the shopfloor or jumping under a vehicle to offer help if requested, attitude is key.

You must be experience in the following:

- Proficient using AutoCAD (2D and 3D) in a low volume environment
- Experience of designing through to BOM stage and to production including liaison with customers (full lifecycle experience)
- Proven experience of hydraulics and ideally pneumatics and/or electrical knowledge
- Design background and in particular bespoke design
- HNC/HND educated

Any experience with stress analysis would be very useful also, although not essential.

The salary is based upon experience and to be discussed at submission stage, interviews to be conducted over the next couple of weeks' with a view to begin employment in November if possible.
